Exterior lighting is a surefire way to make your home stands out from all the others in your neighborhood. Landscape lighting has a significant impact on your home’s curb appeal, and the part that surprises many homeowners is the price. There are tons of options for exterior lighting, and some are incredibly inexpensive. As we move through 2020, exterior lighting popular as ever, but there are some specific trends that CGreens has noticed in Dallas, TX.
2020 Exterior Lighting Trends
Color-changing bulbs can be expensive upfront, but after they are installed they are an easy, cost-free way to change the look of your home whenever you want. Most of the time, the bulbs are controllable from an app that makes changing the colors from blue and white to celebrate Dallas Cowboys victories to green and red to celebrate the holiday season super easy.
String lights do not have to just be for the holidays. They are an incredibly simple and inexpensive way to give parts of your property a warm and inviting glow. String lights have been popular lighting solutions for a while, and we do not see that changing in 2020. There are also many different uses for string lights including:
- Wrapping them around some tree trunks or through the branches
- Adding them to the edges of a patio or gazebo roof
- Stringing them through the openings on a pergola
- Adding them to the bushes is a new one that we are seeing!
Pathway lights will continue to be popular in 2020. Not only do they help make sure the edges of your walkways and driveways are clearly visible, but they are also stylish, and do a lot for changing the atmosphere of those areas.
When possible, we recommend hiding the lights underneath your walkways. This makes the lighting softer, allowing them to complement your yard rather than overtaking it.
Phone-Controlled Exterior Lighting
This may not necessarily be a trend but, setting up your lights to be controlled by your phone is incredibly popular right now. Like many other home functions, there are many different options for the central hub that controls your lights. Most of them allow you to:
- Brighten or dim the lights
- Set timers
- Switch colors
One thing to consider when you are setting up your lights is what connection your lights use. Typically, there is the option to use Bluetooth or wifi connectivity. Bluetooth is the more cost-effective of the two; however, you will have to be in the range of the hub/lights to control them. Wifi, on the other hand, might be more expensive but you can essentially control your lights from anywhere.
Now that you know the trends, it is important that you find someone who can help you realize the vision that you have for your yard. Luckily, CGreens Landscape Management is here.
